SSIs done away with - confusion reigns?!

So as of 1st April SSis have gone. Well sort of. Researchers still have to apply through the IRAS system but the SSI form is now handled by local R&D offices. Once the 'R&D approval letter' comes through, that covers SSI and this no longer has to go through local ethics committees. This should be much quicker but there's still some uncertainty in many R&D offices.

R&D approval is still very slow in the UK. The system really does need a shake up.
